quintaluz santa luzia

southern portugal travel guide – where to stay

Welcome to the most beautiful bed and breakfast in Portugal, right outside the tiny seaside village of Santa Luzia, along the Algarve coast of Portugal… close to the village, lagoon and beaches. Although, it’s hard to leave the B&B in the morning.

In passing in Paris, a friend told me about an island off the coast of Southern Portugal. She showed me dreamy photos on her iPhone of sandy beaches, not a soul… Paul and I were looking for our next escape, absolutely loved our first trip to Lisbon together and were looking to go back so decided to explore the southern Algarve coast as well.

How to do it:

  • From Europe, fly into Faro. You can also take a beautiful train ride down from Lisbon.
  • Rent a car at the airport.
  • Get an AirBnB close to the coast so you can explore the best beaches and drive down dusty roads for the best family-style Portuguese restaurants.

I based the entirety of our trip on an bed & breakfast I found called QuintaLuz, an organic orange grove near the ocean offering breakfasts of fresh squeezed juice and delcious unexpected jellies run by a lovely Belgian couple. Being that this was a bit of a celebration of our engagement, we basked.
